MTN Meets SEC on IPO, Seeks Concessions to Fast-track Listing

Nigeria’s biggest telecoms provider, MTN, has met with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to discuss a possible initial public offering (IPO) of its shares on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and how it wants to structure the share sale. According to Reuters, SEC Director General, Mounir Gwarzo, said MTN had discussed the possibility of issuing various classes of shares to targeted investor groups. He said the telecoms firm was looking at three different classes which would be new in Nigeria.

Custom Officers Seize Fuel Tanker Filled With Bags of Rice in Ogun State

Men of the Ogun State Area Command, Nigeria Customs Service, have made a shocking discovery after intercepting a petroleum tanker. The officers were shocked to discover that the tanker was loaded with smuggled bags of rice. This was revealed by the new Area Controller, Hassan Gangua while addressing journalists at the command’s Idiroko border office on Thursday. According to him, a MAN diesel petroleum tanker with number plate FST 51 XE, was specially built for smuggling.

Mark Zuckerberg: Claim fake stories posted on Facebook helped Trump win

Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg says it is "crazy" to suggest that fake stories on the social network helped Donald Trump win the US Presidential election. The website has come under fire amid accusations that it helped give traction to a succession of bogus stories which circulated during the election campaign. At a technology conference in California, Mr Zuckerberg said: "The idea that fake news on Facebook, which is a very small amount of the content, influenced the election in any way I think is a pretty crazy idea. "I do think there is a certain profound lack of empathy in asserting that the only reason someone could have voted the way they did is because they saw some fake news.

Foreign Singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen dies at age 82

A statement on his official Facebook page said: "It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist Leonard Cohen has passed away. "We have lost one of music's most revered and prolific visionaries." A memorial is going to take place in Los Angeles at a later date, and it is not publicly known how or where he died.

Eden Hazard wins PFA Fan's award

Chelsea Eden Hazard has won the PFA Fans' Premier League Player of the Month award, beating the likes of Theo Walcott and Joe Allen. More than 61,000 votes were cast in the poll, which was held on the  Sky Sports  website and apps, with Hazard winning with 27,262 votes. Arsenal star Theo Walcott came second with 14,737 votes, narrowly ahead of Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen in third with 14,491. Rounding off the top six were Dele Alli (2,012), Charlie Austin (1,996) and Callum Wilson (1,073).
