FG Declares December 26, 27 And January 2 As Public Holidays

The Federal Government has declared Monday and Tuesday, December 26 & 27, 2016 and Monday, January 2, 2017 as public holidays to mark the Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year 2017 celebrations respectively.

The declaration was made on Wednesday on behalf of the government by the Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd).

General Dambazau enjoined all Christians and Nigerians in general to remain committed and support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, in his sustained efforts towards building a peaceful, united and prosperous Nigeria.

Chelsea Eden Hazard has won the PFA Fans' Premier League Player of the Month award, beating the likes of Theo Walcott and Joe Allen. Foreign Singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen dies at age 82

A statement on his official Facebook page said: "It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist Leonard Cohen has passed away. "We have lost one of music's most revered and prolific visionaries." A memorial is going to take place in Los Angeles at a later date, and it is not publicly known how or where he died.
